CTET Paper 1 & Paper 2 Details

The CTET consists of two papers:

  1. Paper 1: For candidates who aspire to teach classes I to V (Primary Stage).
  2. Paper 2: For all candidates interested in teaching classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage).

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The eligibility criteria for CTET are determined by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The requirements vary based on the level of teaching you intend to apply for.

For Primary Teacher (Classes I-V):

  1. Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have passed or are appearing in the final year of the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
  2. Candidates with 45% marks in Senior Secondary and who have passed or are appearing in the final year of a two-year D.El.Ed. course, as per the NCTE regulations, are also eligible.

For Upper Primary Teacher (Classes VI-VIII):

  1. Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and passed or are appearing in the final year of the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  2. Alternatively, candidates with 50% marks in their Bachelor’s Degree and a one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) are eligible.

There are relaxations in qualifying marks for candidates from SC/ST/OBC and differently-abled categories, as per government norms.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit to apply/register for the Central Teachers Eligibility Test.
